Network Hardware Research and Development

Baynetwork is helping lead the charge with the research and development of next-generation 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet technologies. We are committed to the R&D to make this cutting edge network hardware a reality. As video and voice become more prevalent, faster networks will be a neccesity to maintain seamless data communication. 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100 GbE) will change the way companies and people communicate, allowing for lightning fast data-transfer that meets the standards of today's high-bandwidth network economy.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has recently agreed to target the 100G Ethenet Standard as a next version of Ethernet technology.  Some of the objectives of the task to build 100G are:

  • Support full-duplex operation only
  • Preserve the 802.3 / Ethernet frame format utilizing the 802.3 MAC
  • Preserve minimum and maximum FrameSize of current 802.3 standard
  • Support a bit error ratio (BER) better than or equal to 10 - 12 at the MAC/PLS service interface
  • Provide appropriate support for OTN
  • Support MAC data rates of 40 and 100 Gbit/s

Baynetwork's research and development will go towards a new line of switches and routers for both 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Technology. Please stay tuned for updates as we progress.
